  • Certified Nursing Assistants and the Certified Medicine Technicians will no longer be mailed a renewal application effective December 20, 2010. These individuals will receive a reminder notification in the mail sending them to the Online Renewal Site to renew. It will be the responsibility of the certificate holder to mail back to the Board the attached form with his/her certification number, date of birth, and current mailing address if he/she wants a pre-printed renewal form. The Board would like to thank you for your cooperation with this endeavor as the Board moves towards a paperless environment.

  • Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) is hosting Forensic Nurse Examiner Adolescent/Adult course. This course is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing. The course is for RN's with at least 18 months experience and a MD license to be come certified to provide SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination) services for victims of sexual assault The course is being offered from 10/26/2009 through 10/30/2009 at a cost of $400.00. The instructor for the course is Suzanne Rotolo, PhD, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P, CFN. Please e-mail lkelly@gbmc.org for additional details and registration. 
  • Activities of the Maryland Nursing Workforce Commission have been suspended
  • Effective April 1, 2007, The Board discontinued the printing of ALL license & certification cards.  Please use Look Up a Licensee to verify licensure / certification status.
  • Falsified Verifications - It has come to the Board's attention that falsified verifications of licensure status have begun to circulate among employers. The Board asks that all employers take time to verify a licensee or certificate holder through the Board's website using Look Up a Licensee. This on-line database is updated daily and contains the most recent licensure information.
  • ​Culturally Competent Nursing Care: A Cornerstone of Caring - A Free Online Course The issue of Culturally Competent Nursing Care continues to grow as the patient care population becomes more diverse. The Maryland Board of Nursing recommends that all nurses take advantage of the following course. It will provide updated information on providing culturally competent care in today’s world.   • ​Effective June 1, 2008, House Bill 269 allows the extension of a temporary license or certificate letter an additional 90 days if criminal history background information is pending. Click for Details
  • Attention Excelsior College Graduates and Students: Effective July 25, 2006, all Excelsior College students who are enrolled in the nursing program before July 25, 2006 and who graduate before December 31, 2007 may apply for the NCLEX examination or, if already licensed by another state, for endorsement.
